Weeds Season 8 Episode 6 Recap – ‘Allosaurus Crush Castle’
Nancy is still trying to mainstream her life, while Silas is trying to bring his business back. The sixth episode in the final season of Weedsbrought Nancy a new chance, in a quite unexpected way. My episode review follows…
What just happened (episode summary): Nancy is trying to get a job; Silas is after his plants; Stevie is having a no-friend for a sleep-over; Andy tries fatherhood; Shane is selling his talent; A new door is opened for Nancy and Silas.
How it happened (the chatty TV critic): Kids change your life, and also Nancy felt that this last couple of episodes. Last week she needed money to give the soccer team for her son, and this week she used her son to help herself find a proper job. Call it karma if you want, or coincidence, but it seems like once again faith brings Nancy to where the smoke is sweeter.
Silas was trying to get his plants back, but hada little surprise waiting for him in the house were the plantswere kept. He had to play the streaptease gig, and unfortunately we didn’t get to see it (why? we see occasional female nudity on the show, I could use some balance). It made him drunk and depressed, and when he got home without his plants he told Nancy the whole thing, kind of.
Nancy tried to play mum again, telling Silas that growing is his thing, but business he should leave to someone else.
Meanwhile, she had to entertain a five year-old, a no friend of Stevie from the soccer team. If she did this well, she might get a sales job in the pharmacy company of the kid’s father. But the job is not easy, and after Nance gives the kid a lecture about life (nice, some background on that woman. Too little too late, perhaps, but in the case of Weeds the past almost doesn’t count) – Shane is called in to be the babysitter.
Andy also gets his fatherhood moment, which he finds exactly what he needed to get used to the idea of being Father Andy, now that Jill is pregnant (it even doesn’t bother him too much that this might be Doug’s kid after all).
What are we left with: I loved to see Nancy and Silas together again, with some well-grown plants, at the end of the episode. I told you it was way too early in the season for Nancy to truly change her ways, but it might be that she can still do it. Will they steal plants, or have a whole new idea this time?
