'How I met your mother' - Desperation Day and the Marshepillow

Desperation Day brought all our characters exactly where they wanted to be, even if they needed to be reminded where that really was.

Marshall was still in Minnesota, helping his mother by being a needed teenager again. Too busy with video games, he doesn’t see his mom is doing great on her own – and when Lilly arrives to help, Marshall’s mother begs her to take her son back to NY. Only Ted, running away from Valentine’s with Zoey (because he feels this relationship is moving too fast for him, or as he puts it – “things move so fast in NY”) – joins Marshall in his room, and thet wo are getting comfortable running away from the life they still have.

In the meantime, Lilly spends quality time with her Marshell-pillow – and those scenes I thought were pretty funny and – weirdly enough – convincing. Robin and Barney discuss Valentine’s Day, and Barney explains Robin how Desperation Day works. He actually manages to charm one of Robin’s friends – Nora – by talking about Laser Tag, and for the first time in his life gets a date on February 14th.

It wasn’t the funniest episode of the season, but it worked well in making the bunch a little less cynic, and a little more in place. This includes a couple of really beautifull scenes with Marshall’s dad in a flashback in the car.
